A blurb in today’s Cynopsis made me realize that video games are the only technology that politics haven’t used. Well, I know Bush/Cheney ‘04 had a few games on their web site mocking Kerry, but nothing very widespread.
Nintendo is on track to release a Mii social networking channel this fall, featuring contests and other social gatherings around the digital likenesses Wii gamers create of themselves. The round, kokeshi-inspired avatar figures can already be used to interact with other internet-connected Wii owners using the “Mii Parade” feature.
Since everyone is jumping on the social networking bandwagon, who will be the first candidate to figure out Wii? Imagine playing tennis againstĀ Guiliani or bowling with Edwards. How about target practice with Thompson? Better than getting text messages from Obama.
